Cinnamon Swirl Cupcakes: A Sweet Delight for Your Taste Buds

Cupcakes have a magical way of bringing joy to any occasion. And when you infuse them with the warm and comforting flavour of cinnamon, you create a treat that’s perfect for cosy gatherings or a simple afternoon indulgence. These Cinnamon Swirl Cupcakes are a delightful blend of soft, moist cake and a cinnamon-infused swirl, topped with a creamy frosting. Follow this recipe to create a batch of these delectable treats that will leave your taste buds dancing.

Ingredients:

For the Cupcakes:

  • 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk

For the Cinnamon Swirl:

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

For the Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for the cinnamon swirl.
  7. Fill each cupcake liner with batter about halfway. Sprinkle a small amount of the cinnamon swirl mixture on top of the batter in each liner.
  8. Using a toothpick or a small skewer, gently swirl the cinnamon mixture into the batter to create a marbled effect.
  9. Bake the cupcakes for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
  10. Remove the cupcakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. While the cupcakes are cooling, prepare the cinnamon cream cheese frosting. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
  12. Gradually add the powdered sugar, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Beat until well combined and the frosting is light and fluffy.
  13. Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, pipe or spread the cinnamon cream cheese frosting onto each cupcake.
  14. For an extra touch, you can dust the tops of the cupcakes with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon or decorate with cinnamon sticks.
  15. Serve and enjoy these delicious Cinnamon Swirl Cupcakes with a warm cup of tea or coffee!
